Summer Immersion prepares students to enter, navigate, and influence the educational experience at Vassar.
Summer Immersion in the Liberal Arts is an intensive experience for incoming Vassar first-years. Taking place during the summer prior to their first semester, Summer Immersion students forge connections, build community, and envision the Vassar–and the world–they want to create. Due to the circumstances of COVID-19, Summer Immersions in the Liberal Arts will take place online in the summer of 2020.
The Summer Immersion program offers an exciting opportunity to begin meeting members of the Vassar community before arriving on campus for the fall semester. Incoming students can explore Vassar’s global liberal arts curriculum and become familiar with the range of resources that are available to them while on campus. The program is designed for high-achieving students with a demonstrated commitment to their communities. It offers a glimpse into college courses, workshops, peer and faculty mentors, and an introduction to the communities of Vassar and Poughkeepsie.
As a cohort, Summer Immersion participants connect with our dedicated team of faculty, administrators, current students, staff, and alumnae/i who work together to welcome, challenge, and support Vassar’s newest students as they prepare to embark on their college journey.
